After naively envisioning both newfound fatherhood and social isolation as creative boons, I did not play music for almost the entire past year. In it's absence, it started to become clear how much I depended on it. In December, once or twice a week, during my daughter's naptime, I just started to pick up the sax and play, recording the first melodies that came to mind. Noise constraints associated with a sleeping baby forced me to focus on constructing something freeform and ambient. At the end of each naptime session, I played back what was there and recorded a piece.

While these pieces were intended to be personal exercises, I was happy enough with what came of them that I decided it would be nice to share. They express equally the love and hope surrounding new life as well as concern about the state of the world around it. The opening track, December Dawn, was recorded while recalling the serene moment of sunrise after her birth. The title track, Drawn in Dreams, is based on a melody we've sung to her countless times as we put her down to sleep.

I hope they bring you as calm a mind as they did me when I was making them.
